Latest Updates from Our Project:

(FINALLY) An Update!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2020 at 12:41:59 PM

It's been a long summer, everyone....hope you're all doing well!

Because of the pandemic, we don't have our usual bevy of US-based co-workers in China BUT we managed to get our China staff to film a bit of the Roci production molding process...

We're extremely fortunate that our China-based staff is so passionate about everything we do.  They've truly been the glue holding things together the past 6 months, and they've been working overtime to ensure that all of the Expanse merchandise exceeds your expectations.  As of this morning, all secondary items have passed inspection and are ready for packaging.  The Roci is nearing completion and final QC will begin any day now.

Barring any unexpected delays, we anticipate that goods will leave the factory around 10/17, and then arrive at our Hong Kong fulfillment center on 10/20.  From there, goods will be co-packed, prepared for shipment and forwarded to our ocean carrier.

So what does this mean for you?

Within the next week or so, our customer service group will notify each of you regarding your final shipping costs and estimated delivery window, and the credit card we have on file will be charged.

In the meantime, we'll try to get some pictures of the goods leaving the factory.  And, as always, if you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected] and we'll be able to assist you!

Happy Monday everyone!

While we're finishing up tooling, we've been working on perfecting our Roci deco plan and our Expanse Season 5  friends Manny Danleon, Krista Allain, and Richard Tinoco have been working with us to ensure that all of the details are accurate and consistent with their vision. In production, the Roci will have a total of more than 100 paint ops plus tampo printing for the Roci Girl logo, ship titles, landing gear, ship deco triangles and door dashes (NOT present on the artist deco master shown here).  Take a look!

UPDATE!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 30, 2020 at 11:14:37 AM

Hey everyone!  Thanks so much for your patience while we try to nail down final details.

A couple of updates.....

  • We've had a number of requests from backers who needed to change their billing information for shipping, and I'm happy to announce that we've reopened the project on BackerKit so that you can edit address and payment information. If you have any issues accessing your account, just reach out to us via [email protected] and we'll help you out!
  • Over the past couple of months, we've been looking at all available shipping options in the quest to reduce/minimize shipping costs.  With the pandemic, courier rates have been rising weekly because there are fewer flight options and increased demand; additionally the courier companies will not forecast what rates will look like in the late fall.  Based on this, we've made the decision to ship most orders via ocean...this will result in very significant savings for virtually all backers (in some cases, the shipping rate is about one-fourth of the original estimated shipping cost).  Over the next two weeks, we'll be contacting backers directly regarding anticipated shipping and delivery windows, as well as revised estimated shipping costs.
  • Due to the pandemic, we lost approximately 8 weeks of tooling and production time.  We've managed to make up some of that, and now expect to be ready to start shipping in early November.  Again, we'll be contacting you directly over the next couple of weeks with specific information.

A Roci update!

We've been working closely with the Manny Danelon (show producer) and Krista Allain (VFX producer) to ensure that the Roci is as authentic as possible.  Last week, we finished up the details for the deco plan...

Pantone color selection for the deco plan
The image we used to discuss the surface properties (matte vs shiny) of the ship. The diagram illustrated ‘roughness values’ ranging from glossy/shiny/semigloss (red) to sheen/satin (green) to matte (in this case mostly wear/blue)

Take Three: High-res images for zoom.......

Ok, for some unknown reason, Kickstarter is reducing the size of the images (from 6MB to 74KB, so that's a problem....).  BUT these links should work--they work for everyone in our office, anyway...

Let me see what we can do......
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 11, 2020 at 12:11:01 AM

Let me see what we can do on Monday re: making these higher res and maybe finding some interiors (not sure we have those assets, but we'll reach out to Amazon/Alcon if we don't).  Stay tuned.....
