We are aware that you are getting a little bit anxious about when you’ll be receiving your Expanse merchandise. COVID-19 restrictions and delays have definitely been a challenge; in many cases, information we’re provided one day changes the next. However, we’ve made the decision to go ahead and ship ASAP, even if that results in some additional costs for Idea Planet. So, here’s some information which will hopefully ease your minds and answer some questions about where we are and when we’ll be charging for shipping.
1. We’re currently finalizing costs with Easy Ship, and their shipping partners. As you may recall, to reduce costs we’re shipping via ocean freight and then last-mile courier to most backers. Any backer whose order cannot be shipped in this method has been contacted separately.
2. Last mile (courier) rates continue to fluctuate, but as of today we’ve locked in costs for you. In the event that UPS or one of our other couriers enacts yet another price increase, we will absorb it and your order will be delivered without any additional cost to you.
3. We will begin charging cards, via BackerKit, 11/10/20. Once we have charged your card, you will receive an email from BackerKit stating that the card on file has been successfully charged or that payment has failed. If you receive a failed payment notice, please follow the steps provided by BackerKit to ensure payment for shipping.
4. Please note: because we’re shipping via ocean freight, all orders per region must ship from Hong Kong together; therefore, we can only make 3 attempts to charge cards. If, after 3 attempts your card still fails, we’ll be forced to assume you’ve abandoned your order.

We had a productive phone call with our HK-based fulfillment company this morning and although we are still waiting for some final courier costs, we are hoping these costs will be finalized by the end of this week. If everything goes as planned, we will be able to share your final shipping costs per region sometime next week.
So... while we are still working diligently on getting you the best shipping costs available, we need to make sure that you will all receive your packages at the correct shipping address! Please make sure your shipping address in BackerKit is correct. If you need to change your shipping address, log into your backer portal through BackerKit and edit.
